The\u00a0historical\u00a0emergence\u00a0of\u00a0real\u00a0socialism\u00a0has\u00a0largelycoincided\u00a0with\u00a0the\u00a0aftermath\u00a0of\u00a0major\u00a0systemic\u00a0crises. As \u00d6nder Apo\u00a0underlined\u00a0in his\u00a0recent\u00a0assessments\u00a0from\u00a0\u0130mral\u0131,\u00a0the\u00a0Soviet\u00a0Union\u00a0was\u00a0born\u00a0out\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0structural\u00a0collapse\u00a0of\u00a0thecapitalist\u00a0order\u00a0following\u00a0World\u00a0War\u00a0I,\u00a0while\u00a0post\u2013World\u00a0WarII\u00a0gave\u00a0rise\u00a0to\u00a0state-centric\u00a0socialist\u00a0models\u00a0such\u00a0as\u00a0China, Vietnam,\u00a0and\u00a0others.<\/p>\n

\u00d6nder\u00a0Apo\u2019s\u00a0reflections\u00a0on\u00a0these\u00a0examples\u00a0amount\u00a0to\u00a0a\u00a0profound\u00a0ontological\u00a0critique\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0mode\u00a0of\u00a0existence\u00a0sharedby\u00a0all\u00a0past\u00a0socialist\u00a0experiences.\u00a0These\u00a0systems\u00a0may\u00a0havedeveloped\u00a0internal\u00a0dynamics, but\u00a0they\u00a0were\u00a0primarily\u00a0theproduct\u00a0of\u00a0external\u00a0historical\u00a0ruptures.\u00a0That\u00a0which\u00a0is\u00a0born\u00a0of\u00a0crisis\u00a0is not\u00a0fermented\u00a0within\u00a0the\u00a0people\u00a0\u2014 it is not\u00a0rooted\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0organic\u00a0will\u00a0of\u00a0society, but\u00a0rather\u00a0takes\u00a0the\u00a0form of\u00a0thestate,\u00a0bypassing\u00a0the\u00a0moral\u00a0and\u00a0political\u00a0foundations\u00a0of\u00a0thecollective.<\/p>\n

Hence,\u00a0every\u00a0socialist\u00a0theory\u00a0that\u00a0emerges\u00a0as a\u00a0response\u00a0tosystemic\u00a0crisis\u00a0through\u00a0external\u00a0intervention\u00a0tends\u00a0to\u00a0adopt\u00a0a\u00a0statist\u00a0configuration,\u00a0ultimately\u00a0detaching\u00a0itself\u00a0from\u00a0socialreality.\u00a0In\u00a0contrast,\u00a0socialist\u00a0theory\u00a0and\u00a0politics\u00a0must\u00a0arisefrom\u00a0within\u00a0\u2014\u00a0from\u00a0the\u00a0ethical, moral,\u00a0and\u00a0politicaltransformation\u00a0of\u00a0society\u00a0itself.<\/p>\n

From\u00a0this\u00a0perspective,\u00a0the\u00a0revolutions\u00a0in\u00a0question\u00a0were\u00a0not\u00a0theresult\u00a0of\u00a0deeply\u00a0developed\u00a0social\u00a0will, but of\u00a0opportunisticresponses\u00a0to\u00a0moments\u00a0of\u00a0breakdown\u00a0within\u00a0the\u00a0global\u00a0system.\u00a0For\u00a0this\u00a0reason,\u00a0many\u00a0such\u00a0formations\u00a0took\u00a0on\u00a0militaristic,\u00a0statist,\u00a0and\u00a0centralized\u00a0structures,\u00a0shaped\u00a0not\u00a0by\u00a0the\u00a0internaltransformation\u00a0of\u00a0society, but\u00a0by\u00a0the\u00a0immediate\u00a0urgencies\u00a0of\u00a0war\u00a0and\u00a0power\u00a0vacuums.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0common\u00a0trait\u00a0of\u00a0these\u00a0experiences\u00a0lies\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0fact\u00a0that\u00a0theywere\u00a0not\u00a0founded\u00a0upon\u00a0the\u00a0long-term\u00a0ethical\u00a0and\u00a0politicalorganization\u00a0of\u00a0society, but\u00a0rather\u00a0on\u00a0filling\u00a0the\u00a0power\u00a0voidscreated\u00a0by\u00a0crisis.\u00a0Their\u00a0revolutionary\u00a0praxis\u00a0focused\u00a0not on\u00a0internal\u00a0social\u00a0evolution, but on\u00a0the\u00a0tactical\u00a0seizure\u00a0of\u00a0statestructures\u00a0in\u00a0moments\u00a0of\u00a0systemic\u00a0fracture.\u00a0What\u00a0was\u00a0lackingwas\u00a0not\u00a0strategy, but\u00a0depth\u00a0of\u00a0relation\u00a0with\u00a0society\u2019s\u00a0memory,\u00a0culture,\u00a0and\u00a0internal\u00a0will.<\/p>\n

\u00d6nder\u00a0Apo\u2019s\u00a0statement, \u201cwhat\u00a0comes\u00a0with\u00a0crisis,\u00a0goes\u00a0withcrisis,\u201d is not\u00a0merely\u00a0a\u00a0historical\u00a0observation, but an\u00a0ontological\u00a0critique\u00a0concerning\u00a0the\u00a0epistemological,\u00a0methodological,\u00a0and\u00a0existential\u00a0dimensions\u00a0of\u00a0socialism.<\/p>\n

No\u00a0socialist\u00a0formation\u00a0that\u00a0is not\u00a0born\u00a0from\u00a0within\u00a0society\u00a0\u2014\u00a0from\u00a0ecology,\u00a0democracy,\u00a0woman,\u00a0culture,\u00a0ethics,\u00a0andhistorical\u00a0consciousness\u00a0\u2014 can\u00a0produce\u00a0lasting\u00a0freedom.<\/p>\n

This\u00a0is\u00a0why\u00a0democratic\u00a0socialism\u00a0must\u00a0not\u00a0rely\u00a0solely\u00a0on\u00a0crisisconditions, but\u00a0must\u00a0be\u00a0grounded\u00a0in\u00a0social\u00a0consciousness, moral-political\u00a0organization,\u00a0and\u00a0the\u00a0leadership\u00a0of\u00a0women.\u00a0While\u00a0periods\u00a0of\u00a0crisis\u00a0and\u00a0rupture\u00a0may\u00a0act\u00a0as\u00a0catalysts,\u00a0theycannot\u00a0be\u00a0foundational.\u00a0What\u00a0is\u00a0foundational\u00a0is\u00a0the\u00a0moral-political\u00a0will\u00a0of\u00a0society\u00a0itself.<\/p>\n

This\u00a0insight\u00a0also\u00a0explains\u00a0why\u00a0today\u2019s\u00a0paradigm\u00a0is\u00a0beingconstructed\u00a0around\u00a0internal\u00a0dynamics\u00a0such\u00a0as\u00a0woman,\u00a0society,\u00a0ethics,\u00a0ecology,\u00a0and\u00a0direct\u00a0democracy.<\/p>\n

Any\u00a0socialist\u00a0structure\u00a0that\u00a0arises\u00a0outside\u00a0of\u00a0society\u2019s\u00a0internaldynamics\u00a0may\u00a0gain\u00a0short-term\u00a0strength, but\u00a0will\u00a0inevitablycollapse\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0long\u00a0run,\u00a0for\u00a0it\u00a0fails\u00a0to\u00a0establish\u00a0a\u00a0genuineconnection\u00a0with\u00a0collective\u00a0memory,\u00a0with\u00a0the\u00a0peoplethemselves,\u00a0and\u00a0with\u00a0values.<\/p>\n

History\u00a0offers\u00a0numerous\u00a0examples.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Soviet\u00a0system\u00a0may\u00a0have\u00a0won\u00a0the\u00a0war, but it\u00a0failed\u00a0toeliminate\u00a0the\u00a0roots\u00a0of\u00a0inequality\u00a0and\u00a0could\u00a0not\u00a0establish\u00a0peace.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Chinese\u00a0revolution\u00a0armed\u00a0its\u00a0people\u00a0and\u00a0createdresistance\u00a0institutions, but it\u00a0could\u00a0not\u00a0liberate\u00a0them.<\/p>\n

Vietnam\u00a0resisted\u00a0imperialism, but as it\u00a0became\u00a0increasinglystatist, it\u00a0distanced\u00a0itself\u00a0from\u00a0its\u00a0people.<\/p>\n

These\u00a0structures\u00a0did\u00a0not\u00a0prioritize\u00a0internal\u00a0social\u00a0evolution, but\u00a0responded\u00a0to\u00a0war-imposed\u00a0urgencies.\u00a0They\u00a0were\u00a0born\u00a0in\u00a0crisis, but\u00a0failed\u00a0to\u00a0transcend\u00a0it.\u00a0Once\u00a0the\u00a0crisis\u00a0ended,\u00a0theirhistorical\u00a0legitimacy\u00a0dissipated.<\/p>\n

\u00d6nder\u00a0Apo\u2019s\u00a0paradigm\u00a0represents\u00a0a\u00a0critical\u00a0rupture\u00a0here:<\/p>\n

True\u00a0socialism\u00a0does\u00a0not\u00a0emerge\u00a0from\u00a0crisis.<\/p>\n

It\u00a0is\u00a0built\u00a0through\u00a0the\u00a0ethical,\u00a0cultural,\u00a0and\u00a0organizationaldepth\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0people\u00a0\u2014\u00a0through\u00a0social\u00a0consciousness,\u00a0led\u00a0bywomen.<\/p>\n

Thus,\u00a0social\u00a0revolutions\u00a0must\u00a0not be\u00a0based\u00a0merely\u00a0on\u00a0theopportunities\u00a0crises\u00a0present, but on a\u00a0profound\u00a0shift\u00a0in\u00a0socialmentality.<\/p>\n

Today,\u00a0the\u00a0conditions\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0Third World\u00a0War\u00a0\u2014 a\u00a0new\u00a0global\u00a0crisis\u00a0phase\u00a0\u2014\u00a0carry\u00a0the\u00a0risk of\u00a0repeating\u00a0the\u00a0same\u00a0illusion.<\/p>\n

Any\u00a0system\u00a0built\u00a0purely\u00a0on\u00a0the\u00a0opportunity\u00a0of\u00a0crisis\u00a0will, as in\u00a0past\u00a0examples,\u00a0remain\u00a0fragile.<\/p>\n

A\u00a0system\u00a0established\u00a0by\u00a0crisis\u00a0is\u00a0destined\u00a0to\u00a0collapse\u00a0by\u00a0crisis.<\/p>\n

Therefore,\u00a0these\u00a0historical\u00a0experiences\u00a0hold\u00a0deeper\u00a0meaningthan\u00a0ever\u00a0for\u00a0all\u00a0social,\u00a0cultural,\u00a0ecological,\u00a0ethnic,\u00a0andspiritual\u00a0movements\u00a0that\u00a0claim\u00a0to\u00a0uphold\u00a0a\u00a0socialist\u00a0theory\u00a0andpolitics.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0new\u00a0socialist\u00a0line\u00a0does\u00a0not\u00a0pass\u00a0through\u00a0the\u00a0state, but\u00a0through\u00a0society\u00a0and\u00a0its\u00a0self-administration;<\/p>\n

Not\u00a0through\u00a0the\u00a0party, but\u00a0through\u00a0moral-politicalorganization;<\/p>\n

Not\u00a0through\u00a0production\u00a0relations\u00a0and\u00a0political\u00a0processes\u00a0alone, but\u00a0through\u00a0the\u00a0construction\u00a0of a\u00a0new\u00a0social\u00a0mentality.<\/p>\n

It\u00a0must\u00a0be\u00a0born\u00a0not\u00a0merely\u00a0from\u00a0crisis, but\u00a0from\u00a0the\u00a0internalunity\u00a0of\u00a0truth\u00a0and\u00a0ethical\u00a0organization.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0permanence\u00a0of\u00a0socialism\u00a0lies\u00a0not in\u00a0its\u00a0structures, but in\u00a0the\u00a0depth\u00a0of\u00a0its\u00a0relationship\u00a0with\u00a0the\u00a0people.<\/p>\n

What\u00a0emerges\u00a0through\u00a0relation,\u00a0meaning,\u00a0and\u00a0organizationendures.<\/p>\n

What\u00a0arises\u00a0from\u00a0external\u00a0rupture\u00a0inevitably\u00a0fades.<\/p>\n
